Good stuff! One question - regarding the Economist subscription - if we substitute W for Web and P for Paper - why would comparing P to P&W be a no-brainer (thus leaving W completely out) - and yet comparing W to P&W such a difficult task? I think the price plays a role here as well - the perceived discount of the paper option when bundled with the Web... Oh well, obviously I have P&W for my economist subscriptions, knowing is soooo different from doing :) Keep up the good work!

Fascinating topic. This pricing scheme certainly is to be found everywhere these days. What a gift to your readers. Amazing what a difference dropping out the one option made. Fascinating how one of the options is likely completely for the psychological effect, and not really to provide another option.

What happens when you have too much money and it doesn't matter how much things cost? Do things loose their value?

This could not be a more timely article for me personally. I just spent $97 (after a 25% discount) on a tux rental today, when I could have gone with a cheaper option that would have been about $60. Is looking about 10% better in the pictures of this event worth the extra $37? I could have spent that $37 on many other things that would have been much more useful to me.
