Money DOES bring you happiness.

but having money does not mean that you will have complete happiness.
There are other factors that cause you to be unhappy.
Each person in the world has a personal problem in their lives, whether they are smiling on the outside or not. jUST cuz someone seems like they are happy, it does not make it true.

So Money does bring you happiness but all the other things kill the whole experience of having the wealth.

I think people are inclined or even preconditioned to 'chase the buck' because retirement is a reality and everyone strives towards an idealistic and comfortable retirement.

I would add that a reason why money does not give happiness is because it is based on spiritual realities and how we are designed for intimacy at the Highest level. Even though money can become our god, it is not God. Happiness comes with increasing surrender of the ego. The ego wants to be the Supreme Ruler. Therefore, it seeks pleasure and gain. That quest is endless, hence frustration. Happiness = Surrender.

Samuel Lopez De Victoria, Ph.D.
http://www.DrSam.tv

Scott, I actually meant this the other way around - I thought people might scoff at the idea of being happy over being satisfied!

I'm surprised you'd think people might scoff at the idea of being satisfied as opposed to happy. I would never scoff at being satisfied over being happy. I may be off base but I've always thought it's healthier to want satisfaction in life as opposed to happiness. Satisfaction, not necessarily happiness, comes from a life lived well.

the question of why people continue to do what is clearly against their personal greater good (and often against the world's greater good) is utterly fascinating, and i'm always happy when i see someone working on it. if we ever find a remedy for this, we've got it licked. i'd have to look for a new job :)
