growing freedom, i don't think we're necessarily talking about a dichotomy here. in fact, at the beginning of the article, jeffrey talks about a continuum.

how would you like the unconscious being addressed?

of course the notion of an "unordered idea" could be explored some more. we'd have to get into what an idea is (a very elastic concept) and what constitutes order.

are you saying that when an idea "comes from something" that it automatically ordered?

and funny enough, in my reply to this article, i DID bring in religion:

http://www.moritherapy.org/article/creativity-blocks-metaphysics-and-individuality/

of course the notion of an "unordered idea" could be explored some more. we'd have to get into what an idea is (a very elastic concept) and what constitutes order.

are you saying that when an idea "comes from something" that it automatically ordered?

and funny enough, in my reply to this article, i DID bring in religion:

I find the dichotomy here to be less than useful without addressing the unconscious specifically.

I dare someone to demonstrate an unordered idea at all. I do not think it is possible. Everything comes from something, unless we want to bring religious ideas into this?

thanks for yet another take on this.

this conversation in itself is creative, wouldn't you say?

it's interesting how many interpretations of "chaotic" there are. i take it you are using the meaning of "unordered" here, is that correct? i think i was leaning more towards the meaning of "almost unintelligibly complex".

i'll try my best to have a reply post up by the end of this week.

I think this is perhaps the most thoroughly researched book on creativity available: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0275944522/

Brian Epstein has translated the research into several very useful exercise books where the theory is outlined. Unfortunately, there is nothing, as it were, in between the very scholarly tome and the very popularized glossy stuff.
