Oh, yes...therapists, through the power of their position in the lives of the people who come to them, can plant all kinds of erroneous possibilities in vulnerable minds. I once had a therapist who convinced me that she was "Mom" -- for $60 an hour. Absolutely crazy-making, and took me years to clear that delusion from my mind.

On the other hand, there are therapists of integrity and lucidity who plant and nourish the seeds of sanity and kindness to oneself. I have been gifted with two such mentors.

Re: what recovered memories are true or false...all I can say about that, from experience, is that the body knows. Any and all memories of mine that are real (though altered by time and all the vagaries of the mind) have always been there...never "recovered" by anyone else. Sometimes the excavation is difficult and excruciating...but there's a big difference between feeling a memory arise from within and one that is suggested. It's a difficult difference to articulate...I just *know* it inside myself.

Hey, that's the answer to my question on the last blog. Thanks.

Okay, one more question, is there any evidence that recovered memories can actually be true?
