Hi Anon, if memory serves, I don't think the studies involved the expression of negative emotion towards the friend. It was more the sharing of negative emotion with a friend.

This article claims that Rapport can be increased with a good friend through the expression of negative emotions. Is this statement still true if the negative emotion is toward the friend himself? If so, does this effect still hold true in a "small group" situation? It would seem as though a sense of isolation would occur if others held witness to negative emotion (especially in the form of accusation).
