Dane Deon, well done for putting it out there. I think the bias of the regular readers of this website could be a guide as to how they might respond to such an article. As to the person claiming to be the relative of the guy... well done champ... enjoying another hoax yourself! The Pentagon making games to encourage wartime shooting. WHAT? Games are fun, boys (i.o.w. 95% of gamers) like blowing stuff up, games just let them do it safely, and its creators get to make money from doing what they love! P.S. procecuted is spelt prosecuted.

Oh, please. It was fake. You people are gullible.

You can't induce a coma, or sleep, or whatever you want to call it, via a series of flashing lights. Think I'm wrong? Find one example outside show business where this is done, or even mentioned as possible.

I have just seen the clip and it is obviously highly emotionally disturbing - what is especially disturbing is the way the victim supresses his experiences at the end - the psycotic look in his eye as he describes it as "just amazing" is chilling. I am sure that this sort of behaviour modification programming is used by various regimes around the planet. IMO Derren Brown should be procecuted for this.

I can reveal that it was my brother who was hypnotised and he was asked in advance to sign waiver forms, but was not told the detail. He was later paid £10,000 to keep it out of court.

He's never been the same since.

This is just like Fox, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, BBC. Friends and strangers doing nothing to help, just like in real life. I a saw a Hooters waitress drop to the floor in an epileptic seizure within 10 feet of a flashing red light, which is common for epileptics. Subliminal NLP is very powerful. This is why Pentagon designs shooter video games to overcome the fact that 90% of real people refuse to shoot in wartime. Especially useful to get recruits to become mass murderers in Iraq. CIA MKULTRA does this crap all the time. If this is real, that guy has a 1-way ticket to the funny farm, someday. PTSD time bomb, dreaming of zombies.

I've seen him do similar things live on stage and so I'm sure that this is possible. The effect itself is really a tarted up version of the old stage hypnotist's routine of telling someone to act like they have no clothes on or ordering them to bark like a dog.

It relies on a suggestible subject otherwise it won't work but generally these kind of people are 'self-selecting' so it's not a problem. He does another trick where people answer a public phone and are then seen to collapse. Effectively he is hypnotising people over the phone. The kind of people who answer a public phone on a whim are exactly the kind of people who are wide open to suggestion.

Actually, Derren Brown claims once to have been the victim of an attempted mugging. I say attempted because Derren apparently hypnotised the man on the spot and left him completely disorientated and close to tears.

In this case, though, it's the sheer emotional strength of the man's reaction that made me question whether this is justified or ethical.

Consent after the event isn't really consent, unless you've got a time machine.

It relies on a suggestible subject otherwise it won't work but generally these kind of people are 'self-selecting' so it's not a problem.
It was his most impressive stunt in a long time, highly amusing.

Though no permission was sought he did take time to reasure the gentleman after the trick and he seemed happy enough.

It did seem pretty far fetched though, remember he is a magician. Is what he did really possible ?
